A great way to start your visit of the Grand Canyon is a walk through the
village. Explore the 'city at the Grand Canyon South Rim' on a
self-guided walking tour:
- Kolb Studio: former home of Ellsworth and Emery Kolb hosts exhibits and
a bookstore.
- Lookout Studio: designed by Mary Jane Colter, it is built with natural stone
and hosts a gift shop and an observation place.
- Mule Corral and Barn: be there just before 8:00 am and watch the mule riders
start their trip down into the canyon.
- Santa Fe Railway Station: here comes the history of 'going west' by train
alive.
- Hopi House: Mary Jane Colter designed this Pueblo-style building
(made of stone and adobe), mostly built by Hopi Indians, and hosts a large
gift shop.
Visitor Center
The Visitor Center is located at the Canyon View Information Plaza in the
eastern part of the Village, close to Mather Point.

the Visitor Center.
Free Public Transportation (South Rim)
There is a free Grand Canyon Shuttle system (3 routes) in the village and
to view points from spring to fall.
Village Shuttle: operates in the village and connects with the other two
shuttles.
West Rim Shuttle (Hermits Rest Route): drives to the eight view points along
the West Rim Drive; turn-around is at Hermits Rest (8 miles);
you can get off a bus towards Hermits Rest at any stop (view point)
at any time and catch a later bus to resume the tour; buses stop only at
Mohave and Hopi Points on return.

Center to South Kaibab trailhead and Yaki Point.
