ABOUT ME
a short info
I was born in the Austrian baroque-city
Schärding am Inn, at the border to Bavaria/Germany.
A small romantic town,
famous for the beautiful, historical downtown-area and the two
beer-breweries.
INTO THE WORLD - BUT NOT SO FAR YET
Early in my live I had the urge to see behind the horizon and to get to know people
and countries far away. One of the reasons might have been a trip through Europe when was 18 years old,
a trip which lead me to the phantastic bright midsummer-night of Narvik (Norway)
and to the south to Malaga (Spain).
And so after a short stay
in Vienna I moved to
Salzburg,
the city of Mozart. There my duty of the military-service gave me -
besides wasted time - also the opportunity to be on stage of the
Salzburg Festival as an egyptian soldier in Verdis opera Aida (close to
Mireilla Freni and Placido Domingo) - conducted and directed by Herbert von Karajan.
Salzburg didn't only bring me closer to the classic music,
it also developed my love to the nature.
When ever I had the opportunity I spend time with my friends at one of the
beautiful lakes or on a steep path in the majestic mountains.
I "found" even more mountains around the heart of the Alps,
Innsbruck in Tyrol, my last destination, before I crossed the big
ocean.
NOW IT GETS FAR
And it got really far away, to be exact to
Phoenix,
Arizona - granting a wish of my former wife.
The state in the southwestern USA, famous for the breathtaking natural wonders -
the gigantic Grand Canyon
(photo) and the bizarr Monument Valley
where many of the famous cowboy movies were made.
Arizona, a land of Extreme with summer-temperatures
up to 120 degrees F and popular skiing-areas in the winter,
a land of history with many indian tribes,
a land of future with modern computer-industries,
a land of romantic with the most breathtaking sunsets.
And a land, which belonged once to the spanish colonie Mexico,
and was a part of the Austrian Empire for this reason, as the Habsburgs
liked to use marriages with other empires to expand their influence.
So my new home country was at this time, at least historically,
a part of my old home country.
This country is so versatile and rich of sights,
that you can't avoid to get effected,
and I take many chances to "explore" this country.
Short trips (see 'Trips & Hiking' in
EXTRA)
give me the opportunity to escape from the daily live in Phoenix.
My 4-wheeler brings me aside of paved roads - into the kingdom of coyotes,
bears, elks, rattle snakes and wild horses - to the land of indians and cowboys.
