ETIQUETTE ON RESERVATIONS
What you should know:
- Each reservation has its own government and its own rules
for visitors and guests.
- Alcohol and drugs are not allowed on reservations.
- Photography: There might be fees and restrictions. Don't
take photos, videos or recordings without permission. Contact the
tribe to get a permission or ask the individual you would like to take
a photo from.
At pow-wows: Follow instructions carefully; even some parts of an
open-to-the-public pow-wow or ceremony may not be recorded,
pictures taken,...
- Do not talk to dancers until they have finished their performing.
- Do not applaud after religious dances.
- Sacred areas and graveyards are restricted areas and are not open
to the public.
- Homes are private and should not be entered without invitation.
- Beware of buying arts and crafts that are not authentic. Visit the
