Final Thoughts
Looking back I have to admit that I did some mistakes. The biggest one was
to drive from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon at night and to start the hike with
lack of sleep.
Another mistake was not having a permit ahead for the Bright Angel Campground.
Well, we were lucky and got one (on the way down) but please don't count
on that if you are planing to hike down.
The next time I will drive to the Grand Canyon (or close to it) the day before
(a permit in my pocket), stay over night to get plenty of sleep and
start the hike down at sunrise.
This hike was one of the most interesting I ever did - challenging and
beautiful! If you have not been there you can't imagine the strength, power and
beauty this wonderful place has to give. It truly reflects i's name -
Grand Canyon.
